Bedtime Stories - Book Organisation

My wonderful hubby reads stories to the boys at bedtime. He reads to them in Brodie and Joels bedroom. The only annoying thing was there was books everywhere, not only was it messy, the books were getting damaged. So this is what I did....can you guess?

Basket for storing bedtime books

Once a month I try and rotate the books, so it's not the same stories for months on end. Although there are some fav books that the boys don't want to see leave the basket.

Chopping Board Storage

After a recent trip to Kmart I came across this. I thought this would be great to hold my chopping boards. I have seen many people use this kind of item to store baking trays etc. And at a bargain price of $4 how could I not buy it.

Here is how the chopping boards were stored before.

And this is how they are stored now.

Beautify The Laundry - Laundry Printables

I came across a post from Bianca at A Little Delightful about her laundry, her blog is fantastic make sure you check it out. Her laundry looks fabulous. As soon as I saw it I'm like I have to do that it's just what my laundry needs. I designed some labels in power point and spent ages playing with colours and fonts and here is the finished result.

And like Bianca I couldn't stop there I had to label everything else in the laundry.

Our old washing basket was either on the bench, on top of the washing machine or on the floor, it drove me crazy. After reorganising the laundry I was able to free up the top shelf in the broom cupboard. I just love my new washing baskets and even better they have a home that is behind a door.

I just couldn't resist buying a hand wash that went with the new colour scheme in the laundry. I just love the shape of the bottle as well.

I love walking into the laundry now to do washing. Thanks again Bianca.

Lego Storage & Organisation

Brodie recently celebrated his 5th birthday and he received lots of lego as gifts. I was amazed at how many different pieces of lego there are, not to mention the instruction manuals as well. Lego has become my biggest organising frustration. I have been searching pinterest and google and found lots of different storage solutions. Some people organise lego by colour, type of piece, by project or keep  all the pieces in one huge container. So many ideas but what was going to work in our space?

My boys would be in heaven in this lego room from Honey and Fitz. It is the ULTIMATE lego room!

So after all the researching we finally decided how we were going to organise the lego.

Lego has taken over the first row of one of the expedits in the playroom.

Lego Storage

Here are the lego storage boxes.
They have small dividers that are removable or fixed.

Storing manuals has been another headache. I originally stored them in a A5 2 ring folder and used plastic sheet protectors. This didn't go so well in a couple of days the protectors punch holes were ripped. So onto plan B. I love these A4/A5 display books which are wire bound and the sheet protectors are more durable. I get them from officeworks you can see them here and here. It has been a couple of weeks and no ripping so far.....fingers crossed!

I am sure the organisation and storage of the lego will evolve when we get more and more lego but so far this is working for us.

Have you got any tips for organising lego?
